League Street Church of Christ Youth News

It is important to take a moment and recognize all the adults who work so hard to help our young people grow in the Lord.  From sponsoring or  chaperoning trips to leading small groups, to teaching Bible classes or simply as serving as a listening ear and a source of holy wisdom, the adults of League Street Church of Christ truly see our young people as our first mission field.  It is an honor to serve alongside you as we point our students toward Christ.  Our Tuesday Morning Prayer Breakfast will not meet during Christmas break.  We will start again January 15, 2019. Winterfest will be January 18-20.  This is a youth rally in Arlington TX for our high school students and middle school students who have a chaperone attend with them. This will be a weekend of worship, Bible study and service.  Please be praying for all adults and students who will attend. High School Retreat will be Saturday and Sunday, November 17-18 at Camp Deer Run.  Packing lists are available now.  We leave Saturday morning at 9 AM from the church parking lot and return Sunday at 5 PM.  Please pray for the students and adults who are attending this retreat. We will be attending the Lions for Christ Youth Rally in Commerce this Saturday, November 3rd.  The bus will leave the church at 2:30 PM.  We will return at 8:30 PM.  Supper will be provided.  There is no cost for this youth event. The Fall Fest has been canceled at Randy and Darla Reed's house for this coming Saturday due to wet conditions.  We will still be riding in the parade on Saturday.  Meet at church at 9 AM, return at 11 AM.  Haunted House - We are still going to Terror Trails this Saturday.  We leave from the church building at 6 PM and return by 9 PM.  Bring $10 and sturdy shoes that can get wet / muddy. This Sunday the League Street Church of Christ Youth Ministry will have our 2018-2019 Preview in the youth room immediately following the Back to School Ceremony in the auditorium at 9:30 AM.  Join us first as we gather in the auditorium to honor our teachers, students and parents and after the dismissal from that we will use the last 30 minutes of Bible Class time to get an in depth look at upcoming events, service opportunities and more. Help us thank Noah Merritt and Lacon Hudgins for their service to our church this summer.  Noah's last day as an intern is Sunday, August 5.  Lacon's last day as an intern will be Wednesday, August 8.  We are excited to see what God has in store for their future! The LSCOC Youth and Children's Ministry (3rd grade and up only) are going to Splash Kingdom tonight from 4 - 9:30 PM for swimming, fun and a devotional.  Bring $10 for admission and a sack supper / money for concessions.  There will be classes available at church for younger children and the youth who cannot go will meet in the auditorium tonight. There will be no devotional at League Street Church of Christ this Sunday night, July 29 since we will be having our 5th Sunday Potluck immediately following Sunday morning worship.  Our next NETSYS Area Wide Devotional will be Monday, July 30 at East Ridge in Rockwall, TX.  Meet at the building at 6 PM we will return by 9:30 PM.  Eat supper before you come.  The League Street Youth Ministry is partnering with our Iglesia de Cristo to reach out to the Lakeview Mobile Home Park this summer.  A large part of our outreach has been Lakeview Kids Club, a VBS type of event with the children of that community in their neighborhood.  Our last kids club of the summer will be Tuesday, July 31, from 8:30 AM - Noon.  Be sure to wear cool clothes, bring a water bottle and sunscreen. The League Street Youth Ministry leaves for church camp this coming Sunday morning at 7 AM.  Be sure your camper has money for 2 fast food meals (one on the way down and one on the way home) and that their money is not packed in their luggage (it will be inaccessible on the road.)  For more packing information see the youth ministry Facebook page.  We will return Friday night by 10 PM. Be sure to join us for Vacation Bible School this coming Sunday at 4-6 PM and Monday - Wednesday from 9-11 AM.  All student volunteers should show up for VBS at least 30 minutes before it begins. Our first Sunday Funday of the summer ( a time to play, worship and study the Bible together) will be Sunday night June 17 from 6-8 PM.  If you have them bring hammocks, frisbees and clothes you can wear comfortably outside.  There will be no food served at this event.
